Mat Group - The Original Pilates classes wrapped up this week with a fun, engaging, different layout than the usual lines and with lots of reference and support from one another in class.
We will be resuming from the week of 6th Jan 2025 and starting straight into deepening the powerhouse with the magic circle ⭕️ workshop on Friday 10th Jan at 9:30am.

Thank you to all that attended to their sessions and classes with their Christmas 🎄 spirit, love and energy, embracing wearing the Santa ‘s belt and scoping their built in magic ✨ and taking part on the reindeer’s race on the Mat yesterday! Beautiful teasers were done 👍 and great work from everyone in this entire year! Please congratulate yourself and thank you 🙏 once again for being there in body, mind and spirit! Detoxing for December

Never neglect your Pilates practice in Winter! Why? Frequent evenings in the armchair, can cause a tight psoas muscle group. This muscle lies deep in the pelvis, and is tricky to get to/ work on. However it is a very important muscle in the body that needs to be constantly lengthened and strengthened to avoid back pain- too much sitting causes the psoas to contract, however this is easier said than done this time of year. A tight psoas can cause serious postural problems: when you stand up, it pulls the low back vertebrae forward and down toward the femur, often resulting in overarching in the lumbar spine, which is a common cause of low back pain and stiffness; it can also contribute to arthritis in the lumbar facet joints!

Pilates matwork is good to address this; Pilates on the Reformer is even better; and of course, that Kneeling ballet stretches in the Cadillac is the winner 🥇! Thank you 🙏 Universe!

Oh what a night- I want to thank you all for making our One Hit Wonders Winter Special such a hit! I absolutely loved all the effort you went to with the outfits and your energy made the evening- just contagious! Thank You guys- our community is made so much the better for each and every one of you.

Teaching the true method of Contrology is a journey of learning, education, passion and practice. The journey begins with learning and understanding what each body needs, to observe it, assess it and act on it educating one’s body to learn it from their own feelings. The safety and each individual movement in each of the hundreds of Contrology exercises (Pilates) is paramount. I am honoured to have participated in this journey that will probably never end, and continue for many more generations to come, dedicating the teaching of the phenomenal physical education method of Pilates to our Pilates community of Portobello and beyond around Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, online reaching amazing people that log in from anywhere in the world. I feel deeply grateful and blessed to engage with each one of my clients with passion and commitment to the work, helping them achieve their goals, enhancing their confidence, strength and ability to transfer their knowledge from their Pilates sessions to their lifestyle activities. And, while it took me several years to achieve my comprehensive Classical Pilates certifications, my learning will always and forever remain alive and consistent, and I thrive for all of yours to continue too!

This 4-week course is designed for beginners and those new to Pilates or those looking to restart Pilates after a long absence. We will cover the basic principles of Pilates and help you develop an understanding of the method. These sessions are designed for 3 people maximum, and it will involve working on the Pilates apparatus: a combination of Towers, Mat, Magic Circle, Pre-Pilates and Standing exercises from the classical Pilates syllabus.
